Subregions
editThe present regional structure of Lower Saxony comprises 12 of a total of 48 counties. I guess we do need some subdivision, but certainly not in 48 counties. I suggest
- East Frisia (Leer, Emden, Aurich, Wittmund)
- Central Northern (Friesland, Wilhelmshaven, Wesermarsch, Cuxhaven, Stade, Rotenburg, Verden, Osterholz, Delmenhorst, Oldenburg, Ammerland, Diepholz, Nienburg)
- Lüneburg Heath (Harburg, Soltau-Fallingbostel, Celle, Gifthorn, Uelzen, Lüneburg, Lüchow-Dannenberg)
- Western (Grafschaft Bentheim, Emsland, Cloppenburg, Vechta, Osnabrück)
- Southern (the rest, ie from approx Hannover)

- Hi Claus, i suggest that Friesland should be part of East Frisia because it's culturally the same and the Northern Frisian Islands as well. The region Central Northern in German is called Norddeutsche Tiefebene because it is so flat. I propose to call the region Northern plains. Same goes for your Western which is suggest to call Western Plains because it is in essence converted swamp land. Soutern Lower Saxony is good because it is heavily industrialised and have a similar culture. (WT-en) jan 06:57, 11 August 2010 (EDT)
