Donkeys?
editWhen I visited Luxor in the 1980s, it was quite common to hire a donkey, & a guy to lead it, for the day as you came off the ferry. This got you to the Valley of the Kings, over the hill (scary ride!) to the Valley of the Queens, to a couple of other sites & back to the ferry. Is this still possible? - Now, it is not usual any longer. Donkeys are now replaced by taxis or bicycles. Now it is also forbidden to climb or cross the hills for instance from Deir el-Bahri to the Valley of the Kings. Sometimes I went from the Valley of the Queens directly to Deir el-Madina across the hill but this is not an official path, too. I think there is one exception: nobody can prevent you from going to the tomb of the saint-sheikh Abd el-Qurna. From this place you have a nice view to the temple of Hatshepsut and to the Ramesseum. --RolandUnger (talk) 12:19, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
