This page was recently started by user Vishalsax. I don't know whether there is a consensus to keep, but have reformatted so it can be used in the interim period. Personally, I think that the article has potential as long as the information is expanded. Obviously dates are a requirement, but also info regarding the the type of music performed, facilities and also reviews should be added. (WT-en) WindHorse 02:11, 28 May 2007 (EDT)

I think that this has merit as a travel topic becuase it's a reason people travel. However it does need more information on the individual festivals rather than just listing them off. -- (WT-en) Speedfox • (Talk) • 00:25, 03 Jan 2010 (GMT)

Burning Man

Is Burning Man really a music festival? I'm sure there are plenty of didgeridoos and garage bands, but it's not a festival with stages of on-going musical acts, and the main focus is on crazy art and communitarianism. Should we remove this? Texugo (talk) 14:05, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Links to listings

Nowadays policy is that travel topics should link the listing in the destination article, instead of maintaining full listings. If an event is worth listing here, in a global article, it should indeed be worth listing in the destination article, and locals and visitors are more probable to update it there (and fans, who read this article, can follow the links to update in that one place).

Now most listings here link to the external URL and the destination article, and in many cases the festival isn't listed in the linked article (at least not by a recognisable name). A few don't even have any destination link, or just a redlink, and sometimes no link at all. This needs to be fixed.

Can you point us to an example of a destination article that shows festival listings the way you think they should be done? A good model is worth a thousand words... Mrkstvns (talk) 20:52, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

See Music festivals#Finland. The event links point at the listings on destination pages. Those listings aren't necessarily ideal, but about what we tend to have, and at least better than most descriptions at this page. This is the format I'd like to see.

I assume that the events should use {{Event}}, but that template needs serious work, including some re-thinking. Pori Jazz uses that template, and for some reason the wikidata value doesn't work as anchor, although it is there as a span ID.
