Tysfjord
editThe Tysfjord area is mentioned in Do, as a ferry passage in E6 through Sweden and Norway and in Get in of Nordkalottleden (for Hellmobotn and Kjøpsvik) . Wouldn't it be worth an Other destinations entry, with coords, redlink and some description? --LPfi (talk) 08:15, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- I guess Tysfjord is a bit small for a separate article. The nature is of course grand, but less than 2000 living there, and not a big destination on its own. For this kind of areas in Norway better make somewhat bigger areas, for instance Narvik and Ofoten. --Erik den yngre (talk) 19:46, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- I think we just include nearby areas in the article on the town, so including all of Ofoten and still call the article just Narvik would be fine. The next articles to the south are Bodø and Fauske, which should probably be expanded to cover most of Salten (Fauske has little content and could perhaps be merged). --LPfi (talk) 20:54, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- Fauske should clearly be merged with Bodø. Better use traditional districts rather than small towns or municipalities (see map): Salten including Bodø, Ofoten including Narvik. Perhaps just Bodø and Narvik as names, and let Ofoten and Salten be redirects? --Erik den yngre (talk) 10:39, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Sounds sensible. --LPfi (talk) 20:43, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, I had forgot this discussion when I created Tysfjord. Up for merging? –LPfi (talk) 13:13, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Tysfjord is a substantial article, so I dont think any strong reason for merger. --Erik den yngre (talk) 21:39, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Mergers
editI now merged Ørnes into the main article. The main article on Nordland is not suitable for details about towns (such as accomodation), but towns are mostly too small for stand alone articles. So I think Nordland should be organized by traditional districts (se map):
- Lofoten
- Vesterålen
- Narvik, including Ofoten and most of Tysfjord
- Bodø with Salten
- Helgeland with Mo i Rana, Brønnøysund and Vega
Svartisen-Saltfjellet (photo) effectively separates Helgeland (southern part) from Bodø-Salten (central part). The arctic circles also happens to cross Saltfjellet mt pass. Helgeland is not small (about the size of Slovenia), but no major towns. Mo i Rana is a dull industrial town.--Erik den yngre (talk) 16:18, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
