Thoughts on the direction of the page

edit

I was inspired by the Scuba diving page and thought that a rock climbing travel topic might be suitable. As you can see from the outline, I'm thinking that a little information for a traveler new to climbing, a collection of info on individual climbing destinations (such as when to go, type of rock, type of climbing and what it is noteworthy for), a link to the Wikivoyage article, and eventually (one day) some suggested itineraries for those wanting to travel and climb (probably a different article).

Destinations Map

edit

Would a map of climbing destinations be useful? I've created an interactive climbing map at TopoHawk.com. Not sure if linking to my site is a faux pas or not. In any event, I feel like it's a good way to show climbing locations. —The preceding comment was added by Alecdhuse (talkcontribs)

Thanks for asking. Linking your map on a talk page would be OK, but not in an article, per external links#what not to link to. If you'd like to create a Wikivoyage map of those destinations, the maps we use on this site are either static maps or dynamic maps. Please have a look at Wikivoyage:How to draw static maps and Wikivoyage:How to use dynamic maps. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:59, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
