Proposed replacement

I don't believe the current banner does justice to the town, and would like to replace it. Any thoughts or objections? – StellarD (talk) 09:59, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I haven't been there, but the proposed replacement is more striking. I'm slightly bugged by the mesh, but I guess that can't be helped. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:04, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I've now uploaded two more banner possibilities. Does anyone have any preferences? – StellarD (talk) 09:29, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Alternative 1

Alternative 2
The two others are nice. Which do you think is most emblematic of the city? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:14, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
The second one is beautiful but not so unique (more like stock photo). The flags hanging is better and those white and blue are really nice. As the banner is on top of the page it is a bit cool to have something you see when looking up there.

I guess the red/green/white one is the colours of Mexico but I wonder what the blue and white could be? /Johan Jönsson (talk) 11:10, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I myself am undecided which of the two additional alternatives is more representative, but am leaning toward the last image. I'm not sure what the blue and white represent – I didn't take the original photograph but assume the flags were part of a saint's day celebration (there are lots of them). I don't think it really matters what colors the flags are but of course others may disagree. –StellarD (talk) 11:54, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Renaming page

edit

This page is misspelled and really should be renamed, to 'San Cristóbal de las Casas', with an accent mark over the 'o'. Are there any objections? – StellarD (talk) 09:33, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

It's a good idea to rename the article. That'll help people to pronounce the city's name correctly. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:14, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Vigilantes descend on town

edit

It's unsettling to read the news headlines about San Cristobal de las Casas today: "Vigilantes raid southern Mexico town, abduct 21, burn homes." Should we put a note about this on the page somewhere, with regards to safety? Lazarus1255 (talk) 04:18, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

It sure the hell sounds like! Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:24, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh man, I see now there's a message about safety back on the Chiapas page; I guess that ought to cover it. Lazarus1255 (talk) 17:34, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
