Is this an article?

Is Seishun 18 Ticket worth a whole article on its own or should it be part of a larger Travel topics article about Rail travel in Japan. I know we have articles about Eurail and Inter Rail, so I have not discounted the need for something to be written about the subject but Project:What is an article? doesn't quite cover it. -- (WT-en) Huttite 09:23, 4 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Personally, I think that this does merit its own article, mainly because (a) there's a lot to traveling with these tickets; it's not as simple as the Shinkansen where you can just buy a ticket, hop on, and be anywhere in three hours, and (b) this stuff isn't explained very well anywhere online... you have to go to several sites to figure out what's up. First, the content is great and we definitely need this info somewhere. That said, I'm tempted to agree with Huttite that this should be a part of a "Rail travel in Japan" article that would also cover the Japan Rail Pass and the gazillion local JR passes. OK, allow me to qualify my own words: I don't mean really local things like the Hakone Rail Pass, but eg. the JR West and JR East passes currently covered in the main Japan article, which cover a larger area than "Kansai" or "Tohoku". (WT-en) Jpatokal 05:10, 5 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Seishun 18 should definitely have its own section. It doesn't really make sense to divide it into section because the nature of getting value from the pass means people travel long distances.

Seishun 18, in my mind can be complementary to a Japan Rail pass and need not be used only by the super super cost conscious. It can take people to places far from the shinkanen lines, enabling people to see places that are seriously off the beaten track.

Valid on kyuko trains?!

Can you give a source for Seishun 18 being valid on kyuko trains? Eg. [1] says quite explicitly that "乗れない列車は、新幹線、特急、急行", and [2] states "特急（新幹線を含む）・急行列車、グリーン車、寝台車、ＪＲバスはご利用できません。" (WT-en) Jpatokal 04:39, 27 July 2006 (EDT)

Seat Reservations now possible

Just FYI, I updated the article, sourcing JR East's page on the Seishin 18 Ticket:[3]

"Reserved seat on ordinary cars of local and rapid trains can be used if necessary. In this case, the ticket holder needs to make a reservation and pay required surcharges."

Contradiction?

The first paragraph says it costs 11,500 yen and the third paragraph says this is for people who're willing to travel for under 5,000, aren't they contradicting? (WT-en) Jing.t86 18:44, 27 July 2009 (EDT)

Not really a contradiction - each days travel works out at 2,300 Y (based on a 11,500 ticket).

Map?

It would be really great to get a clear map of the lines that it can be used on and their interchange stations. Japan guide has one but it doesnt give the names of the line or the interchange station names. Something more comprehensive would be a big help for planning a trip.

Seishun 18 Ticket now only available twice a year?

I know that it's three times a year in spring, summer, and winter. But in the english page of jreast it seems to be only twice now? Is there any other information about that? Organization

Do you think this would be better organized by region? The islands of Hokkaido and Shikoku are organized that way, but Honshu is separated by major train lines. While I think the information about major lines is useful, I wonder if placing these as the titles is really useful to the traveler or if it would be better to organize sections by region?
