Proposed Sunshine Coast railway under Gold Coast

edit

Was this a mistake? The Gold and Sunshine Coasts have nothing to do with each other. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 08:50, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Light rail, not railway, but yes, it seems like its placement is a mistake on my part. It looks like the original opening date of 2025 has been abandoned, and I'm completely in the dark as to how likely this line's construction is. Usually I only add proposed lines when construction is underway or about to start, and I guess I must've thought it to be about to start here. What would you suggest we do with it? Seen the line's status, I'd suggest removing it from the template and re-adding it when construction has started, but I suspect an Aussie native like yourself has a better judgement on it than I do. Oh, my bad – though both the LRT and the railway are still in its proposal stage. From my visit to the Sunshine Coast last year, there were talks about the railway line, but the LRT line seems to have fizzled out (which is strange given several of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic venues will be in the Sunshine Coast). Like you, I too would remove the light rail for now and add it when a definitive construction date has been announced. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:46, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I've finally finished adding every NSW Trainlink service, both Intercity and long-distance regional trains. A few remarks:

  • The three-letter route icon for Intercity trains are not something invented on or for Wikivoyage but is the abbreviation used TfNSW – if this proves confusing for the vast majority of people who've never seen the abbreviations, should abbr tags be added around the templates?
  • I've created separate templates for the Dungog and Scone Branches of the Hunter Line. Although they're technically on the same line, they are two different train lines in practice (unlike normal spur routes, even those within the Intercity network, such as the Port Kembla Branch). Apparently to get from Scone to Dungog, you will need to change at Newcastle Interchange before travelling back north (much longer than what is only 143 km by car!) – hence the separate templates for both (and the lack of separate template for the Port Kembla Branch of SCO).
  • The long-distance passenger trains are labelled by "region", at least per w:NSW TrainLink#Regional services – I've never taken these trains, though (too inefficient).
  • Although w:NSW TrainLink operates in and out of Central Station, these are separate from Sydney purely because these aren't part of the Sydney Trains network.

Will be happy to tweak or fix anything or elaborate on any of my changes. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:08, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
