Template talk:USA national park passes
Purpose
editThe US national parks system offers three types of annual passes that are valid for entry into any national park. Prices and names of these passes change every few years, and as a result our myriad United States National Parks articles get out of sync. The goal of this template is to eliminate the need to keep multiple articles in sync with the latest details of annual passes by collecting the info into a single content template, similar to what is done for other content templates. Per policy I've tagged this template as {{experimental}} and added it to Yellowstone National Park#Fees/permits for demonstration purposes. Hopefully it won't be controversial, but if anyone has concerns (or support, for that matter), let's discuss them and try to find solutions. -- Ryan • (talk) • 01:51, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
- Very sensible. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:55, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
- *bump* Any further comments? This template seems fairly straightforward, so barring objections I'd like to begin using it to update our US national park articles. -- Ryan • (talk) • 04:50, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- Given the lack of objection and the fact that this template is pretty straightforward I've removed the experimental flag. -- Ryan • (talk) • 00:24, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
- Good idea! One thing though; I'd like to be able to stick that in the United States National Parks page, but "These passes are valid at all national parks including United States National Parks" would look a little awkward. Is there any way around that? PerryPlanet (talk) 06:45, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
- I added a "suppressPageName" parameter - see the new usage instructions for an example. Will that work, or would another solution be preferable. -- Ryan • (talk) • 07:13, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
- That should be just fine, thanks! PerryPlanet (talk) 08:01, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
