Akanksha toppo

Manua Bhan Ki Tekri, a famous pilgrimage spot for Jain devotees situated atop a hill in Sun City, Lalghatti,Bhopal. Also known as Mahaveer Giri, it is known for its exquisite architecture and panoramic views of the city. It is 7km far from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and about 80-100 feet above from the ground.

History

The tekri houses the footwear of Jain saint Shri Jindutta Sureshwarji, Maharaj Shri Vijay Suriji and Acharya Manutung, along with an idol of Shri Man Bhadarji. The devotees believe that praying here will fulfil wishes and bring about prosperity. The Simha Gate of the temple features an old manuscript carved on stone, interestingly the language in which it is written is still to be deciphered. It is said to be the Sadhana Sthali of Oswal Dynasty. It is very well designed and the big stones on the hill add some more beauty to the temple. This Indian temple houses the idol of Shriman Bhadarji and a giant fare is moreover apprehended each time here on Kartik Purnima.

Tourism

Tekri attracts people of every age group to see the aerial view of Bhopal city. There is an airport nearby it and you can also reach the hill top by cable car facility available here. Rope way ride To Manuabhan Ki Tekri in Bhopal is the only rope way in the city of lakes with great view from the top of the hill scenery of upper lake makes it majestic. Many couples and students come daily for jogging and for fresh air. This is also a picnic spot for children and others or humanities. Though there are facilities available they are not adequate, they are yet to be recognised as a prominent tourist destination.
