Kovai Kutrallam, meaning Coimbatore’s Waterfall, is the only waterfall of the wide spread Coimbatore, located in Siruvani, about 37 km from Coimbatore. Kovai Kutrallam is a scenic spot with a gentle waterfall originating on the Siruvani hill ranges. This scenic waterfall is situated within dense forests and thus visitors are not permitted after 5 pm. Kovai Kutrallam is beautifully located amidst the calm peaceful jungles, it is a good place to watch birds and wildlife within the area. A nice scenic locality so near the city – good for a half day picnic. It’s a popular tourist draw in Coimbatore; it comes under the Siruvani mountain range. Located on the Western Ghats, the cascading waterfalls form a picture perfect backdrop for spending some wonderful time in the nature's lap. Seeing the waterfall from a distance is one thing but standing under it is a different experience altogether. Even though it is a major attraction in Coimbatore, one has to take prior permission before visiting this waterfall and there are limited bus service available from the city available to this picturesque place and this area is out of bounds after 5 pm. Kovai Kutrallam waterfalls are managed by the state forest department. As there are only few buses, it is best to plan well in advance to enjoy the panoramic waterfalls of the Kongu district.
