Nice work on Brazil.

new member, some doubts edit

SCUBA edit

Scuba is an acronym - short for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus... I suppose that he has a pedantic point :) --(WT-en) Ravikiran 07:22, 6 Dec 2005 (EST)

Accents are OK edit

Accents are acceptable in Wikivoyage article names: see [[1]]. (WT-en) Jpatokal 21:54, 7 Dec 2005 (EST)

I wouldn't be sure. The policy still seems to contradict itself. (WT-en) Rmx 06:34, 8 Dec 2005 (EST)

Cerro Catedral edit

Rmx (Talk) (Cerro Catedral is a proper name, it's not misspelled) - apologies & thanks

I notice that you got a start on these two plus Juarez. Thanks -- I have been gradually writing stuff on the communities of New Mexico but hadn't gotten around to Las Cruces yet. I'll be glad to work with you on writing that one, knowing a little about it owing to my son who's in college there, but as for El Paso and Juarez, you're on your own; my knowledge pretty well stops at the state line ... -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 23:14, 21 Dec 2005 (EST)

Thanks, Bill. I would love to further collaborate with you but I guess I was just trying to catalyze the creation of those articles. I couldn't possibly make any significant contributions as I've never been to those places. Good luck on your great New Mexico job anyway! (WT-en) Rmx 01:00, 24 Dec 2005 (EST)
OK, and thanks for the birthday/Christmas/New Years wishes; the latter two back at you! -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill

Want to get together? edit

I'll be in BH in February, at the Chalé Mineiro (if I can get the money transfer for the reservation to work). Would you like to hop over and visit? -(WT-en) phma 02:40, 7 Jan 2006 (EST)

Thanks for the kind invitation, Pierre. I'd love to meet you and see BH again, but I'm afraid I can't. I'm really saving up for my vacations in March/April. Anyway, just drop me a line if you think I could help with your trip in any way. Hope you enjoy the "general mines" and have a nice time in Brazil. Cheers, (WT-en) Rmx 00:16, 8 Jan 2006 (EST)

Okay, here's something you may be able to help me with. I sent an email to Angélica at the Chalé Mineiro asking for the SWIFT number of the bank. She replied with the same info that's on the website: the bank name, account number, agency (whatever that is), and her name. I went to my bank, and they told me that I also need her bank's address, her address, and the SWIFT number. So I sent her an email and she hasn't replied. If she's only done domestic wire transfers, she may not know what a SWIFT number is. Can you call her up and explain this? Drop me an email if you like. -(WT-en) phma 20:56, 9 Jan 2006 (EST)

OK, no problem. I have just called Angélica. She told me she's going to get the Swift code and call me back, then I'll forward it to you along with the other info. Hold on :)
You can ask her to just send it to me. Has she made any comment about my Portuguese? (I'm sure there's some French and Luso in it.) -(WT-en) phma

Please be the pt: go-between! edit

So, you've been an excellent contributor to en: Wikivoyage, and I see that you're signed up as a member of the Portuguese Wikivoyage Expedition. Would you be willing to act as the go-between for a new pt: Wikivoyage? The main job is to keep people on pt: informed of what's going on in the rest of Wikivoyage, and vice versa. I think you'd do an excellent job. How about it? --(WT-en) Evan 11:51, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)

Launched! edit

So, we're all set up on pt. You can see it here: http://wikivoyage.org/pt . It'd be great if you could contact the other members of the Expedition and let them know it's going. Also, let me know when you've set up an account, so I can twiddle the bits that will make you an admin.

I've turned on database messages, so you can edit the interface strings at pt:Especial:Allmessages. I think. I've never used it before, and I'm not sure how well it works, but it's turned on for pt: for now.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do. I'm excited about having a new free travel guide project for so many people! --(WT-en) Evan 23:56, 26 Jan 2006 (EST)

Milan image edit

Just out of curiousity did the Project:Requests for images work? Is that why you added the image to the Milan article? - User:(WT-en) Sapphire

Honestly, no. In this case I just bumped into the article and noticed an image was missing. I have, however, added images to the Philippines, for instance, reponding to the request for images. (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 07:02, 1 April 2006 (EST)
Anyway you can tell me if it's legal to rip off this image? It's on the Cincinnati City Council website and I'm not positive it's ok to use, because it is created by the local governt. (WT-en) Sapphire 07:15, 1 April 2006 (EST)
Oops. Forgot to give you the link. You have to type in "Ault Park" in the search bar. - [2]
It's cc-by-sa, but I'm not sure if that applies under San Serriffe's jurisdiction too. (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 07:21, 1 April 2006 (EST)

Bulk uploads to Shared edit

I actually spent several hours trying to get the pywikipedia package to recognize that 'shared' is a valid Wikivoyage version, but I couldn't manage to get it to work. I'll try again this weekend. (WT-en) Jpatokal 22:08, 2 May 2006 (EDT)

It's working now and the bot is uploading maps and flags right now. It should be finished by the end of today. (WT-en) Jpatokal
See also User:(WT-en) Jpatokal/post.py (and its talk page), which may prove useful for uploading skeleton articles. It's not very user-friendly though. (WT-en) Jpatokal 06:17, 7 May 2006 (EDT)

"So what happened here?" edit

You missed a real rip-snorter of an edit war yesterday pertaining to Bus travel in Israel, that's what happened. Check out user contributions for User:(WT-en) Daniel575 to get a feel for it. -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 09:23, 30 May 2006 (EDT)

It's good to have you back edit

How was your trip? --(WT-en) Evan 08:51, 6 July 2006 (EDT)

Shared edit

I'm not sure I fully understood your comments on Shared. The thing that I've been doing is copying and pasting. Is it possible to move EN documents from Shared easier? -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 15:43, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

No, unfortunately we're unable to click move move pages from EN to Shared. The easiest thing to do is copy and paste, but upon further contemplation that could be considered a violation of the CC-by-SA 1.0 license since we wouldn't be able to attribute anyone. The easiest thing to do and not possibly violate the license is export the file save it in .xml and then import the file into Shared, but... (there's always a but) the file would then be saved in Shared as: "Wikivoyage:Page name" not "Wikivoyage_Shared:Page name". Any ideas? -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 04:56, 18 August 2006 (EDT)

New article templates edit

Did you get my email explaining how to create the page that automagically includes a template for a new article? -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 17:11, 28 August 2006 (EDT)

Nope. :( -- (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 21:08, 28 August 2006 (EDT)
Actually, I'd forgot what I sent you. It was the email about the Wikivoyage Shared link, however, I've described how to create the automagic preloading templates for new articles here. Would this help? Sorry, I didn't remember what exactly I sent you - I've been away for a few days so I forgot. -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 21:13, 28 August 2006 (EDT)

Go-Between Reports on en: edit

Just noticed there hasn't been one since June 5, thought you might want to update everyone else... (WT-en) Texugo 02:37, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

Actually there wasn't much to report until you and Fabio showed up. I've been submitting redundant reports for months but you're right: now we've got some updates to do. Will do that in early September. (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 09:15, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

Message of apology edit

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. You may delete my loads from Flickr directory. (WT-en) Gobbler 11:43, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Thanks a ton edit

Thanks for dealing with the move vandalism this evening. I saw your message in IRC, but not fast enough. --(WT-en) Evan 20:47, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Administrator nomination edit

I think it would make sense if you were an admin on en: as well as pt:. It would help when things happen like they did tonight. You'd be the first non-en: admin to become an en-admin, and I think that'd be pretty cool. Anyways, please give your yea-or-nay on Project:Administrator nominations. --(WT-en) Evan 01:06, 12 December 2006 (EST)

Patrolling edits edit

Do you know if there's a way to patrol several edits in a row? I usually open a new browser tab for each diff and check them one by one, but I guess that mustn't be easiest way. Thanks, (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 22:35, 25 December 2006 (EST)

Make sure you have "enhanced recent changes" in your preferences, then you can click on the word "changes" to patrol them all at once. -- (WT-en) Jonboy 22:43, 25 December 2006 (EST)
That's great! Thanks! (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 22:52, 25 December 2006 (EST)

Admin nomination edit

"Pt:" double-redirect edit

Hi

Any idea how to resolve the "Pt:" double-redirect that shows up on the http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Special:DoubleRedirects page? ~ 61.91.191.2 09:45, 1 February 2007 (EST)

Honestly, I'd delete Project:Portuguese Wikivoyage Expedition/Página Principal which is orphaned and has no purpose at all. -- (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 19:50, 1 February 2007 (EST)
Cheers. Already tried blanking that page and it does "fix" the Special:DoubleRedirects problem (albeit in a roundabout way - I'm guessing the first redirect may be from a spurious article that's named in such a way that when you try to access it, you're taken to another page - maybe a capitalisation issue? Anyway...) - I've VFD'd per your suggestion - thanks. ~ 61.91.191.8 22:34, 1 February 2007 (EST)

My Admin Nomination edit

Hi, I'm MiddleEastern, a quite new Wikivoyager but I'm really committed :D, anyway, I have decided to nominate myself for Adminship, just out of curiosity, as a seemingly trustworthy user, I'd appreciate your comment at Project:Administrator_nominations#MiddleEastern.. thanks --(WT-en) MiddleEastern 17:34, 3 March 2007 (EST)

Template edit

I tried to answer your question about the quickbar template. Tell me if my explanation doesn't make sense. -- (WT-en) Sapphire(Talk) • 16:17, 11 March 2007 (EDT)

Got your message, Andrew, and it sounded pretty loud and clear. I'll try and work on the templates when I'm back from a long weekend by the beach next week. Thanks! -- (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 20:03, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

Images edit

Obtive todas as fotos no próprio Wikimedia.
