Hi Johan (WMF) I wanted to post a reply to How we will see unregistered users, but unfortunately your signature conflicts with the Reply-button provided by the software (@Whatamidoing (WMF)), so I could not. I wanted to share this with you on wikivoyage because I cannot provide feedback to the wmf the way you expect it. I hope that a longstanding wikipedian who, like me belongs to a minority group, may be more receptive to input from me than others have been in the past.

I belong to a large and growing minority community of users whose voices are traditionally discounted by the wikimedia movement. The community of LTAs, sock-puppets, sock-puppetters, trollers, spammers, indef-blocked, banned by the community, banned by the Arbitration committee, globally locked, globally blocked, globally banned, and other what-have-yous. This community of undesirables is one directly impacted by the “How we will see unregistered users’, but for political reasons, a community whose members have not been encouraged to voice their concerns about this proposed changes. I am very concerned about the details of the implementation of the plans by the wmf to change how we will see unregistered users. However, I am not an admin, and I'm not in good standing on three separate wikis, including META, so I cannot provide feedback to the wmf.

Since I am not the only wmf-user in this predicament (I estimate that there are thousands of others just like me), and since many of us still provide valuable services to the wikimedia-movement, I am hoping that the wmf values our feedback will find ways to communicate with us, even if it will take time and effort to figure out how to do this.

I'm no longer involved in the IP masking project, but will point the others to this post. I must point out that LTAs, trolls, spammers and so on are impacted by design – the Foundation is actively trying to make it easier for the communities to find them. Thanks for replying. Are you saying that people like me should not participate in unregistered users masking discussions? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 21:57, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm just saying that the tools are meant to be alarming to most of those groups by design, as they are targets we're trying to make it easier to find and block. Johan (WMF) (talk) 01:22, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm confused exactly what you mean by this, could you clarify? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 01:07, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
