Kindia is a major town in Guinea, some 130 km from the capital Conakry by road.

Understand edit

People here speak Susu, like in Conakry and most of coastal Guinea.

Get in edit

The road between Mamou and Conakry was completely renovated in early 2023 and is in very good condition.

  • By car from Conakry in 1.5-2 hours.
  • By 5place/7place from Dalaba for 100,000 GFr, which takes 1-1.5 hours.

Get around edit

See edit

  • See waterfalls:
    • Voile de la Mariée
    • Cascade de Tabouna

Do edit

  • Hiking:
    • Hike up the Mount Gangan. In the rain-season, you might have to walk through water. Locals might insist that a guide is obligatory and you have to pay for them, but the truth of that statement has not been double-checked.

Buy edit

There is a large market, hard to miss when wandering across the town. You can buy all kinds of locally produced goods, for example the local honey with a very unique taste. Ask local people for whatever you need.

There is a 1 Vista GUI bank. You can withdraw money here without a fee for visa cards. Societe Generale takes a fee of 6,900 GFr.

  • 1 Les Eaux de Kilissi. Lovely nature resort located at a river, but quite far from town (15km, 50000 GNF by mototaxi). Its location on Google maps is totally wrong. The restaurant is located on the riverbanks close to a small waterfall. Just 3 minutes away is another huge and wonderful waterfall. Rooms are large and with bathroom, a bit gloomy though. 300000 GNF with breakfast included, but apparently they take a little bit more from fote people (whites).
  • 2 Chez BZ. A bit outside of Kindia, within the village Friguiagbe. ~10,000 GFr to Kindia center by MotoTaxi, 15,000 GFr for two people on one moto. There is a restaurant, a bar with a table football and a nice swimming pool. 250,000 GFr for a double room, 50,000 for breakfast.
