city in and the county seat of Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, United States
Kingfisher is in the Oklahoma Red Carpet Country, and came to be in 1889 thru the land run phenomenons. Prior to that, this area was frequented by cattle drives tracing the Chisholm Trail. Two things Kingfisher can be easily identified with by many are Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, and the Coleman Company (i.e. maker of thermoses), both of which originated here.

editStrangely enough, Kingfisher is considered a bedroom community of both Enid and OKC, despite its lonely location. But, at any rate, it is connected directly by US Route 81 to these municipalities.
