Regions of AP edit

This seems to be an easy one. Wikipedia:Category:Regions of Andhra Pradesh is helpful here. — (WT-en) Ravikiran 08:03, 1 March 2007 (EST)

"Cities" edit

With the addition of the new capital, there are now 10 cities listed in the "City" section. According to the 7+2 rule, there should be 9. So which city would be best to remove? Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:10, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Any discussion, please? I'd like this issue to be resolved before I update Wikivoyage:India Expedition/Andhra Pradesh and the Andhra Pradesh section of Wikivoyage:India Expedition. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:11, 8 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

What happened to Amaravati? edit

Is it no longer capital of the state? If it is, shouldn't it still be in the "Cities" section? Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:00, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Which 9 "Other destinations"? edit

There are currently 15 "Other destinations" listed:

  • 1 Araku Valley — Araku valley offers scenic beauty of the hills and greenery, interspersed with streams and rivulets
  • 2 Belum Caves — a network of natural underground caves in shale/slate rock partly explored
  • 3 Horsley Hills — a hill station and summer residence of British governors
  • 4 Kalikiri — a scenic town with several temples and hills offering trekking opportunities
  • 5 Kanipakam — a temple of Sri Ganesh
  • 6 Mantralayam — a temple of Sri Raghavendra Swamy
  • 7 Papikonda National Park (Kishkindha)   — located in East Godavari and West Godavari includes such mammals as tigers, leopards, sambar and spotted deer, bison and others. Reachable by boat from Rajahmundry
  • 8 Pulicat Lake   — second largest brackish water lake in India
  • 9 Puttaparthi — village and home of the guru Sathya Sai Baba
  • Simhachalam — abode of Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha swamy
  • 10 Sri Venkateswara National Park   — a park and biosphere reserve noted for its many waterfalls
  • 11 Sriharikota — a barrier island which houses India's only satellite launch center
  • 12 Srikalahasti — one of the ancient places of Hindu pilgrimage and the site of the ancient Lord Shiva temple
  • 13 Srisailam — one of the Jyothir Linga Temples (Lord Shiva)
  • Umamaheswaram — ancient temple, a gateway to Srisailam

Which ones should be removed, in keeping with Wikivoyage:Avoid long lists? Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:06, 20 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: Since "Other destinations" is for stuff that are not settlements, I would keep Araku Valley, Belum Caves, Kolleru Lake, Papikonda National Park, Pulicat Lake, and Sri Venkateswara National Park. The remainder should be removed as they are settlements and should be listed at "Cities" instead. Therefore, I go forward and do it. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 06:00, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I will do the same thing for its regions, and if necessary, I will divide them into smaller regions. Rayalaseema is a good candidate for splitting further into regions. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 06:03, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm delighted to trust you to pick the 5-9 most interesting cities and other destinations, just not more than 9. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:05, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've already implemented my proposal, along with several others. See the Andhra Pradesh article. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 08:16, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Reorganisation of regions edit

Southern Coast (Andhra Pradesh) has too many listings, while Northern Coast (Andhra Pradesh) has oddly few listings. I think these two regions should be redefined to balance the number of listings between them. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 07:34, 15 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Since there are no comments regarding it, I'll plunge forward to restore the region borders before district reorganisation. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 05:54, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Return to "Andhra Pradesh" page.
