Hello, Northamerica1000! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.AHeneen (talk) 06:25, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Trimet
editHi! I have seen that you started an article concerning the public transport in Portland. I suggest you contact User:PerryPlanet as he made an excellent map for Portland_(Oregon)#Get_around. Imho, we need to integrate the public transport Portland into one. jan (talk) 10:38, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. For now, I've added "See also: List of TriMet bus routes" to the Portland (Oregon)#By public transit section. When I have time, I'll likely look into this matter further. Thanks again! Northamerica1000 (talk) 11:20, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- I'm a public transit enthusiast myself, but I think a list of every bus route in the city is too detailed for the purposes of a travel guide. It's very detailed information that uses a lot of article space, is subject to change, and can be just as easily provided with a link to the TriMet website. And including a section on historical bus routes is of virtually no use to travelers. I think a better approach would be specifying which routes are the best to get to certain prominent tourist destinations. I know the listings in the New York City articles often have a note of which subway line is the best to get there. An approach like that would probably be more intuitive to a traveler. - Hello all: I got the idea to transwiki this to Wikivoyage from Wikipedia. The article there was nominated for deletion, (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of TriMet bus routes), and it was suggested there that the information be transwikied to Wikivoyage. Northamerica1000 (talk) 03:16, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, Northamerica1000. I nominated that article to be merged as appropriate to Portland (Oregon) and redirected there. Please participate in the Vfd discussion. We'd like your reasoning of whether or why this can be an article under the What is an article? policy, or/and what else should be done with the content. Thanks a lot. All the best, Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:37, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notification; I've commented at Wikivoyage:Votes for deletion#List of TriMet bus routes. Northamerica1000 (talk) 03:39, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Andhra Pradesh
editHi. I'm really sorry that it was necessary to edit out your recent work on the Andhra Pradesh page. The page isn't supposed to be a long, detailed tourism brochure, but rather, a brief state-level overview. In addition, Wikivoyage has its own house style that doesn't include "Tourism" sections. Please also have a look at Welcome, tourism professionals in case that is relevant to you; even if you are not a tourism professional, you will read more about the differences between a promotional tourism agency brochure and a Wikivoyage article there. Thanks a lot. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:39, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm working on consolidating information. Please allow me time to actually do so. Thank you for your consideration. Northamerica1000 (talk) 22:40, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Information should not be consolidated in a state-level article. Read Wikivoyage:One-liner listings and Wikivoyage:Region article template as well as the other links I provided for you. If you'd like to consolidate all that information for your own reference before moving it to the appropriate locality articles, please do so in your own user space. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:46, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, will do. Thanks for the information and links. Northamerica1000 (talk) 22:48, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sure thing. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:50, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- User:Ikan Kekek: See also at English Wikipedia: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tourism in Andhra Pradesh Northamerica1000 (talk) 23:09, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- So I see. The issue here is not that the information isn't appropriate for this site, but that it should be put in locality articles as appropriate (assuming that it doesn't duplicate information already there), rather than left at the state level — which is more or less what you posted in the linked thread. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:53, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- User:Ikan Kekek: I've moved the content I initially added to User:Northamerica1000/Sandbox, from where selective merges can be performed. Northamerica1000 (talk) 23:57, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I know. Much appreciated. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:33, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
