Talk:Auckland Region

Reason for name of article
editI named this "Auckland Region" rather than "Auckland (region)" to make it clearer that it is the local authority area and has offical boundaries. Calling it "Auckland (region)" would have opened the way to debates and misunderstanding about exactly what area it included. (WT-en) Nurg 23:24, 24 Apr 2005 (EDT)
- But the whole thing is odd. The Auckland article itself has districts which are the cities of the ARC. It is far from clear what each of these articles is supposed to cover. Should Auckland just be the city itself? --(WT-en) inas 21:47, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
- I know this is more semantics that a description of the area but if Auckland is a city in Auckland Region should not Manukau also be a city in Auckland Region? Or should Manukau be merged into Auckland city? And Waitakere should be in the city section not region section. Just a little confusing to readers who are familiar with the Wikivoyage structure and terminology. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:33, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- A discussion has now started at Talk:Auckland#Split Auckland metropolitan area and the former Auckland City area that is relevant to this. Nurg (talk) 10:20, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
