Overly flowery language? edit

I understand that we are to speak with enthusiasm of our topics and that there are indeed things worth celebrating about 1776 and all that but is "Bostonians and other colonists shared a notion of liberty as as something precious and worth fighting for" actually true? I mean sure, Boston probably even had a bunch of abolitionists, but nobody there I've heard of was willing to grant suffrage to women and many were very weary of giving votes to "the rabble". Furthermore, many argue that the colonists "stumbled into" declaring independence and bringing forth an independent Republic because parliament was so damn unreasonable and unwilling to budge even an inch when the colonists just demanded a few seats in the commons and maybe a tax cut... Well, the US Federal Government wrote that, so one could certainly argue it's propaganda. There just wasn't much of anything there before, so I figured this would be better. If anyone has improvements please plunge forward! --ButteBag (talk) 01:16, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
