What kind of article should this be?

edit

This is currently classified as a "park" article, but I am not really sure what type of article is appropriate here. Neither "park" nor "extraregion" are really appropriate because it's not actually a park but a set of separate attractions spread out non-contiguously along the river. The attractions are set out linearly, but it's unlikely to make a good itinerary since people are unlikely to visit more than a handful. The attractions are all of the same type and strongly similar, so it makes sense to discuss them singularly, but the area crosses two regions of Virginia, so if we dismantled it, it would have to be treated in the Virginia article (and in any case, the listings need details and I don't think all these are listed in their respective nearest city articles either, which they need to be). Maybe as a set of attractions rather that a single one, it does merit its own article though, not sure. So... is this a topic article then? Or what? Texugo (talk) 19:55, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Given what you've laid out here, it does sound like this should be a travel topic. And someone who knows these plantations should add some descriptions of each, because right now, it's mostly just a long list. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:58, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
"Historical plantations regarded as architectural treasures" sure sounds like a valid travel topic. The problem is that the author hasn't written anything about the sites themselves but simply listed them. As of now this article could be turned into a subsection of Virginia#See. I've provisionally reclassified it as a travel topic for now, but certainly if anyone wants to merge the content to Virginia#See and condense the listiness into a paragraph or two, I'd support that too. Texugo (talk) 20:33, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
