Purple Space Monkey listing

edit

I haven't been there and have no opinion about the place, but is this true or false?

"the burritos and tacos are as close to "Cali-Mex" style as you will find in Southeast Asia"

If it's true, it should be included in the listing. Is the claim by the user who's deleted that content twice that it's inaccurate? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:37, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's blatant advertising, and what is "Cali-Mex"? I'm guessing it is somehow related to Mexican food but Mexican food is rare is SE Asia, and "Cali-Mex" doesn't exist with the possible exception of this. Why allow an ad for this? And for something which the vast majority of people (in Thailand, Asia & the World) have not heard.
Please stop adding an advert for this restaurant. Also, "Cali-Mex" is an unhelpful dsecription. —The preceding comment was added by 115.87.200.169 (talkcontribs)
Can't say that I see how it's advertising, rather than descriptive. Seems useful enough to me, and California Mexican is certainly a distinguishable variant. -- D. Guillaume (talk) 04:49, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
It is clearly PR-hype. Also, that you now note the food is California Mexican is a clear demonstration that it's a confusing term ... I had assumed it was somehow linked with the city of Cali, which is understandable given that "Cali" is a non-standard abbreviation of California. Such a term maybe understood in California, but it is not elsewhere. —The preceding comment was added by 115.87.200.169 (talkcontribs)
...nope, still not seeing it. "PR-hype"? It's a recognized description of a regional cuisine, even if you personally may not be familiar with it, but it is only a description. The phrasing is simply mentioning a (presumably) uncommon style for the area, but does not attempt to claim that it's The Best Ever or anything that would qualify as hype. -- D. It is an unrecognised cuisine. If you wish to include it then change the wording, including explaining what it is.
The fact that you don't recognize Cal-Mex (the usual spelling) cuisine doesn't make it "an unrecognised cuisine," any more than the existence of a place you don't know about would make it an "unrecognized location." California used to be part of Mexico, and Cal-Mex cuisine is the Mexican cuisine native to California. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder about Americans, as if whatever exists or is spoken in the U.S. is actually best to be willfully ignorant about and pretend it doesn't really exist. Time to do that somewhere other than a travel guide. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:13, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
