Transport from the airport

edit

The article says (get in by plane):

The town of Keflavik is easily accessible from the airport. Simply follow signs indicating "Keflavik." The airport is about 5 km away from the town proper.

I'd think few travellers are inclined to walk the 5 km with their luggage, and few take their car on the plane. I suppose there are other options.

Are those going to rent a car recommended to do so at the airport? Can you arrange the car to be delivered there? Is there a bus connection (e.g. the buses to Reykjavik)? Are there taxis?

"Get in:By bus" indicates there are buses direct to Reykjavik, but doesn't mention buses/public transport to the town centre of Keflavik as far as I can see. Probably moving all airport transport info into the "By plane" subsection is better, or maybe we could remove the subsections altogether and merge them into "Get in", especially since it is not a very long section currently, and this is the main gateway of the island, so all transportation options are kind of related. An imaginary traveller flying into the Keflavik Airport from out of Iceland and continuing straight onto Reykjavik, with no intention of stopping by at Keflavik proper would expect to see all this here, I would guess.
I'd absolutely agree with your way of thinking on the 5-km walk to the town proper. Vidimian (talk) 18:11, 4 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
There now has been a mention of a bus connection added. I moved the information on getting to the town from the airport from Get around to Get in By plane, as it probably is relevant only for those arriving by plane. There is now no information on getting in or around other than via the airport, except the map.
The price of taxis from the airport is told in "$", presumably USD. Can you pay with dollars? Otherwise that is against policy, and anyway prices should be primarily told in local currency, unless that is unusable, unreliably or whatever. I cannot imagine taxis would not take króna.

Found the bus with the help of the the Strætó (Reykjavik's public bus operator) routeplanner and added it. Ypsilon (talk) 10:08, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
