Name

edit

Wouldn't the normal Wikivoyage nomenclature be "Lasithi Plateau"? Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:16, 17 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Any feedback? If there's none, I may change this within a few hours or a day or so. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:54, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'm not an English native speaker but I do know the grammar rule that says "Capitalize proper nouns and adjectives derived from proper nouns" and this is the case. Anyway "Lasithi Plateau" looks far better even to my no English eyes. --Gobbler (talk) 17:26, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think this is a different rule. "Plateau" by itself wouldn't be capitalized, but the Lasithi Plateau is a specific plateau, and thus capitalized. Ditto for Hudson River vs. river, Cape Town vs. town, Black Sea vs. sea, Central Park vs. park, Malay Peninsula vs. peninsula, Hilton Hotel vs. hotel, etc. I'll make the name change shortly. Thanks for your clarifications. I'm also concerned about the specific article. I dare say that Lassithi Plateau is somewhat a "tourist trap". --Gobbler (talk) 17:50, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
We cover tourist traps, but if you can offer specific warnings about how it's a tourist trap, please go ahead and put the remarks in the article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:52, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sparsely populated rural area

edit

There are very few hotels and restaurants in the area. I created a new single local-level page for Lasithi Plateau, as stated in Region article template Information. --Gobbler (talk) 19:33, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Return to "Lasithi Plateau" page.
