Talk:London/South
The transport isn't actually as bad - I'm trying to work out how best to describe it. Yes there are less tube stations - but a tourist could still get to everywhere they would want by tube, pretty much.
The key tourist areas in South London are Bankside, South Bank, Brixton, Wimbledon, Kew. They are all on the tube. Even Lewisham (although not exactly a tourist attraction) is on the DLR.
Also as a local I can assure you we use buses rather than trains - trains are just too infrequent. (WT-en) Secretlondon 18:05, 19 Jul 2004 (EDT)
- I'd say Greenwich is a more significant inward tourist destination than any of those you quote above, and it isn't on the tube. However I do take your point, I was perhaps thinking too much of South London places like Croyden or Streatham which are of less interest to visitors. On the other I didn't want readers thinking they could just hop on a tube the way they can inside the circle line. If you can find a better way to express that, please do go ahead and plunge forward.
- PS. I've been known to use buses in South London too. They may be more frequent but they don't half seem to take a long time to get there. -- (WT-en) Chris j wood 19:16, 19 Jul 2004 (EDT)
- Yes it is - North Greenwich tube - although people would be better getting to Greenwich mainline station for most attractions. (WT-en) Caroline 19:45, 19 Jul 2004 (EDT)
Eat and Drink help
editIf anyone has any familiarity with these listings, please help plunge forward and help put things into categories which could help the reader (5-9 listings per category as a rule). If folks were to delete the listings which seem to be rather telephone-book like, that'd be fine with me.(WT-en) Zepppep 12:25, 18 December 2009 (EST)

Dallas of the South
editMaybe I'm simply ignorant as a recently arrived London resident, but is there any source for "Dallas of the South" for Croydon? —The preceding comment was added by JackHahne (talk • contribs)
- Sounds like nonsense, which I will remove. Thank you for bringing this up, and if you have any other improvements to make to the article, I'm sure your perspective as a new resident would be valuable.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 11:57, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
