Divide this up

I think it would be more useful to divide it by type. For instance, maybe one color for national historical parks, national historic sites, and international historic sites; one color for military-type sites (national battlefield parks, national military parks, national battlefields, national battlefield sites); and one color for national cemeteries. I still think it would be better to divide them by type. Dividing them by region addresses the 99-marker problem, but without providing any additional information to the reader—the different colors just function as decoration. Dividing them by type would allow readers to see, at a glance, which places on the map are military sites as opposed to cemeteries as opposed to other types of historic sites. —Granger (talk · contribs) 05:19, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

I've adjusted the markers to divide them by type. I had to do it in a more fine-grained way than I suggested above:

• blue for national historic sites and international historic sites
• green for national historical parks
• black for national memorials
• red for national battlefield parks, national military parks, national battlefields, and national battlefield sites
• gray for national cemeteries

National Mall and Memorial Parks

Is there a reason this has no map marker either? I am honestly a little confused by the structure of the Washington D.C. section of the article in general. Any explanation at all would be nice. Animalia555 (talk) 14:44, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

I suppose these and the things you mentioned above are too spread out for a single marker to make sense. I think the indented list after "National Mall and Memorial Parks" is a list of the various parks that it refers to. —Granger (talk · contribs) 13:37, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
