Merge with Periyar National Park

edit

After visiting Periyar National Park I realized that Thekkady doesn't really exist, it is just the boat launch and cluster of buildings where the bus drops you off in the park. I propose the information on the Thekkady article be moved to the Periyar National Park article (as that is the proper name) and Thekkady be redirected

According to Google Maps, there seem to be a couple of sights and places to sleep, so I'd oppose a merger. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 17:20, 28 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
OSM and Wikipedia show Thekkady at a different location than Google (although they may be backed by the same dataset). I'm unsure how to interpret Google maps, but it appears Google has Thekkady as a neighbourhood of Kumily? Bing maps seems to have Thekkady in the location where Google maps has Kumily. Textual descriptions of Thekkady (eg: thekkady.com, wikipedia) appear to use it synonymously with the tiger reserve, aka Periyar National Park. The Indian Census has data for Kumily but not Thekkady. What do you think about moving the content to Kumily for listings that are located in Kumily and the park information moved to Periyar National Park? --Muddyhikers (talk) 23:12, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Muddyhikers: Sorry I missed this. I'm not sure, really. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:15, 29 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

According to Wikipedia, it is a separate place. If no-one feels comfortable doing the merger, then we should remove the merge tag and leave the articles separate. Ground Zero (talk) 02:08, 12 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the tag as the discussion has been open for two years, and no action has been taken. Ground Zero (talk) 14:47, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Return to "Thekkady" page.
