Talk:Visit United States in 30 days

Too many photos edit

This article currently contains 44 photos, far far more than our policy recommends. It would be a nightmare to pull up on a dial-up connection. I'd like to see this cut down to about 10 photos if not less. Any thoughts? (WT-en) Texugo 22:53, 3 January 2008 (EST)

  • While I agree this fellow added a bit too many photo's, they are all very good and one would have a difficult time picking which ones to eliminate. He made the trip in 30 days which seems about right for a young person with limited time. I think this is another case for adding a gallery at the bottom of a page. By being at the bottom, that should not present any problem with connection speed. Better yet, if wikivoyage could load like photoshop layers, layer 1-text, layer 2-photo's, layer 3 ads, that may be a solution, dunno. My main concern with this article is the photos I checked seemed to have no license. Maybe we should contact the contibutor before doing any editing and ask for his assitance. • You could also use the gallery tag to lay out the pictures horizontally. (WT-en) Jpatokal 22:52, 4 January 2008 (EST)

Why is this an article? edit

Seems idiosyncratic. Perhaps the article would work as one in a series on traveling across the US but as a 30 day trip? Starting in, of all the places, Schnectady?--(WT-en) Wandering 10:40, 4 January 2008 (EST)

Agree it´s a bit random... Something more common like ´´NYC to LA in 30 days´´ I think would make more sense, no? – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 10:58, 4 January 2008 (EST)
Not only is Schenectady an odd place to begin, the itinerary basically involves driving as quickly as possible to the eastern Rockies and spending 3/4 of the trip in the western half of the country. Apparently all of the important attractions in the U.S. are in California, Nevada, and Arizona. (WT-en) LtPowers 09:48, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
I agree...way too much time is spent in the western states. You are completely leaving out the entire eastern half of the the country...the half where 3/4ths of the populations lives!!! How can you leave out the Washington!! And other places, like: Boston, Buffalo (Niagra Falls), the Appalachian Mountains, Charleston (SC), Florida, New Orleans, Texas, Santa Fe, and others. At the very least, this should be given another title and made more consise. (WT-en) AHeneen 00:20, 4 December 2008 (EST)
I think the title should be changed to something like "30 Days USA Nature Tour" or something similar. Then we should remove the cities and add some more interesting natural sights, such as Niagara Falls and Monument Valley. --(WT-en) globe-trotter 10:36, 22 June 2010 (EDT)
All the attractions are in:

Ohio, Illinois, South Dakota, South Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Wyoming, Wyoming, Wyoming, Wyoming, Nevada, California, California, California, California, California, California, California, California, California, California, Nevada, Nevada, Utah, Utah, Utah, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona, Arizona, California, California, California.

Apparently the West is all that really matters, Screw New York, Atlanta, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, Virginia, Outer Banks, Gulf Coast, Florida, and everything else! --98.163.27.150 21:49, 16 April 2012 (EDT)--98.163.27.150 21:49, 16 April 2012 (EDT)

Rename edit

I think this page should be renamed to Visit the Western United States in 30 days. (WT-en) –sumone10154 14:22, 22 March 2011 (EDT)

Not a bad idea, but it does visit Chicago and start in Schenectady. (WT-en) LtPowers 20:59, 24 March 2011 (EDT)

VFD Discussion edit

  • Redirect to United States. Under the revised Project:Itineraries criteria this should not be a standalone article, and I don't see anything in it to merge. A redirect seems harmless enough as I suspect there is probably some SEO value in keeping this around. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 17:50, 8 April 2012 (EDT)

Result: Redirected to United States of America. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 13:22, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
