Advice on external site

edit

The RNLI, has an extensive set of safety guides and advice on it's website. If someone want to analyse and summarise into the information here? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:14, 24 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Make this a disamb?

edit

This article may be too general to be useful - and we may be better directing people to the Beach Safety and Water Sports Safety pages. The content that is here is already there. We should also mention the safety sections of local guides that would have the specific details for an area. --Inas (talk) 23:37, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Something ought to be done. Now e.g. rip currents are handled here, in Beaches#Rip currents and in Water sports#Stay safe. We should concentrate discussion on each danger to one page, referred to from the others. The advice now in Water sports in mainly relevant also when not doing sports. I think having it all here is the best solution, to avoid overloading the Stay safe section in Beaches and avoiding having Stay safe in other articles refer to an article otherwise mainly irrelevant (there is no Beach Safety or Water Sports Safety – and I do not want them created as stubs). –LPfi (talk) 08:48, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Too many images

edit

I respect this edit for adding content, but on my screen, the lowest image is just about fully below the end of the article (see Wikivoyage:Image policy#Minimal use of images for the relevant guidelines). So which image is least important and can be deleted? I'd particularly solicit Darrelljon's thoughts on this. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:44, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Removed waterskiing as not obviously safety-related (as the life jacket image is) and not obviously dangerous as the shark cage is. Waterskiing image is better in the water sports article.--Darrelljon (talk) 18:48, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:17, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
I also removed the life jacket one. Life jackets are important, but the image is also used in Stay safe, and for those not knowing the story, the image is more about history than safety. --LPfi (talk) 08:31, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Return to "Water safety" page.
