Do we really need that many destinations?

edit

I really don't think Moseley qualifies as a tourist destination, even if some committed soul listed perhaps every F&B establishment there. As it stands, the Birmingham article still doesn't seem rife for districtification, and even if we districtify it, why would we list districts on a regional level? Similar questions come to my mind regarding the Cities of Coventry and Wolverhampton and their highlighted locales.

Moreover, given that less than a third of destinations listed even have an article, and most of them are hardly painting their subjects as enticing tourist destinations rather than being yellow pages for pubs and railway stations / motorway junctions, I would move to reduce the number of red links unless we really believe a major destination needs an article that is not yet there.

I believe this article could be made into a much more comprehensive and digestible guide to the West Midlands region, highlighting the possibilities to move beyond Birmingham's Bullring or NEC when one already gets there, if we cut down on the overblown destinations section.

I pretty much support all of your points. (Bedroom) suburbs - anywhere in the world - seldom have very much to offer that would interest visitors. It would probably be possible to collect the highlights of the whole region and make a quite interesting article out of it (again, look at Suriname's regions for a great example). On their own I guess they have as much to offer a visitor as Nelson (England). If there's some city, town or suburb that does have a lot of interesting things to see and do it can and should get it's own article.
And Birmingham does not IMO have enough content to be split into districts and there's for sure no reason for city districts to be listed on the region level. We don't list national provinces and regions on continent levels either. ϒpsilon (talk) 10:20, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Support from me too. Anything with an existing article should be linked from here since it's the lowest region in the hierarchy, but there's no reason to keep all the red links for stuff of dubious value. Texugo (talk) 11:54, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Should we moved West Bromwich to Sandwell and merge in Tipton and Bearwood? --Traveler100 (talk) 11:50, 16 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
