Too many sub pages

Zhejiang has been identified as a region with more than 25 sub pages.

We should work out how to divide is into two, or perhaps check if all the sub-pages shpould not belong lower down the hierarchy. Andrewssi2 (talk) 02:52, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Well, at this point, there is no "lower down the hierarchy" yet. I don't know the area, so I don't know what a reasonable subdivision scheme for Zhejiang would be, but listing 29 destinations seems too much, so we should probably work out something. Also as it stands, the following are supposed to be listed in the article but are not. I would put them in myself, but I wouldn't know how to integrate these all with the way the current cities list is divided into major and minor cities:

• Aojiang
• Dongyang
• Fuyang
• Lin'an
• Longquan
• Pinghu
• Tianmushan
• Tonglu
• Xiandu
• Yuyao

29 sub-articles might mean we want to subdivide, but I'm not sure we need 11 subregions articles for only 29 cities. Couldn't we group these into maybe southern, central, and northern or something like that? Texugo (talk) 03:17, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

I wasn't actually going to create a link for each district, just for those with sub items in them. I also thought that the numbering along with the map would be useful for the traveler.

Sorry, to address your question, I don't think Zhejiang fits too neatly into north, south, east and west. Basically the largest cities are Hangzhou and Ningbo which are in the north and probably contain a lion's share of the destinations. Andrewssi2 (talk) 03:39, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

If you look at w:Zhejiang#Administrative_divisions you find 11 prefectures, each named for its anchoring city. There is even a map, the same one shown above. The 11 cities are as on Andrew's list.

That means we could do something like what I did for the neighboring province Fujian, assuming we can find a region breakdown that makes sense. The Fujian map shows the prefectures & anchor cities, but also clumps them into three regions. Pashley (talk) 05:22, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

How do we distinguish between 'main cities' and 'smaller cities'?

The city list on this page categorizes cities as either 'main cities' or 'smaller cities' but it isn't clear how we distinguish the two. Obviously the criteria is not whether a city is a prefecture-level city or a county-level city since one of the cities categorized as a 'main city' is a county-level city (namely Yiwu) and there are several prefecture-level cities on the list of 'smaller cities'.
