See [1]. This template must be present on Wikivoyage for at least three years per the legal settlement with IB. -- Ryan • (talk) • 01:59, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's the template.
Does the settlement also say where and when the template must be used, please? -- Alice 04:26, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Exactly. I did not see anything on the blog stating this must be present. Where is this template supposed to be used? AHeneen (talk) 04:48, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
The settlement requires that it be posted on a policy page on the English language version (and Wikitravel must do the same) for a period of not less than 3 years. Our counsel has determined that it will be posted at the "Cooperation with other sites" section of the policy page. Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 05:11, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that quick and clear response, Philippe.
Unless and until someone in authority contradicts me, my strictly personal interpretation of that clarification is that there is no requirement whatsoever to post the template (or link to it) anywhere else on Wikivoyage. -- Alice 05:17, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
If you mean "only to that single policy page", you are correct. Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 05:18, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that was indeed my strictly personal interpretation, Philippe: there is no requirement whatsoever to post the template (or link to it) anywhere other than the sole occurrence mandated at the "Cooperation with other sites" section of the policy page on the English language version of Wikivoyage. -- Alice 06:39, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
I'll tell you that's my professional interpretation, as well, as informed by the General Counsel, until and unless he tells me otherwise.  ;) Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 06:56, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
The disclaimer seems to be stating the obvious. Was there ever any doubt? • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 07:10, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I see that IB is obliged to publish a similar statement in Wikitravel's policies. This makes more sense. Does anyone know where it is on Wikitravel? • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 07:38, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's just an ordinary user posting that - and not even an admin, never mind an IBadmin. It'll probably be reverted when IBobi finds it amongst all the spam. -- Alice 09:42, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
I know "assume good faith" is a Wikipedia thing, not Wikivoyage. But in this case, I think it would be prudent of us to do so. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 10:32, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

The full settlement can be viewed at here. Point 3 (bottom of page 1, top of page 2) states:

Within 5 days of the receipt of the [lawsuit's dismissal], the Wikimedia Foundation and Internet Brands shall post to their respective policies and guidelines pages of wikitravel.org and wikivoyage.org the following statement: "[The Wikimedia Foundation] [Internet Brands] believes there is enough room for multiple travel sites to co-exist, and for community members to contribute to multiple sites in this area." This statement shall remain on the respective websites for a period of not less than three years from the Effective Date. (The "Effective Date" is February 12, 2013, per line 2 of the settlement.)

Since the page where this message was posted is the index of policies/guidelines, it seems to fit the terms of the settlement just fine. I don't see anything stating that this is limited to just English WV. However, it's best to leave this issue to WMF's legal team. Ok, now, Alice? Time to leave this matter alone and move along.
