Who I am

I'm an undergraduate studying at Warwick University (which isn't really in Warwick!!!) in England.

Thoughts

'Cheating'

How will we avoid the owners of various establishments etc flooding the pages with good reports about their own restuarants, or even worse, sladering their competitors... I'm not seeing any clear way around this. Any ideas?

Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy

"The Guide was compiled by researchers roaming round the galaxy, beaming their copy in, which was then instantly available to anybody to read. Over, believe it or not, something called the SubEthaNet. ... I really didn't foresee the Internet. But then, neither did the computer industry. Not that that tells us very much of course - the computer industry didn't even foresee that the century was going to end.

But I did have the inkling of an idea that a collaborative guide, one that was written and kept up to date by the people who used it, in real time, might be a neat idea. I just didn't really realise that such a thing might be possible in my lifetime or how powerful such a thing might be.

We're gradually beginning to get some tiny, tiny inkling of how powerful a networked community sharing information really could become."

Ok, he was talking about ["H2G2"], but it applies to Wikivoyage moreso, imo.

Travel Plans

I'm hoping to head to China next September, via Russia. I'd like to visit Tibet while I'm there, and maybe head back via Kazakhstan.

Travel History

I've been to (in an insanely fast 30 day trip in Summer 2003):

In 2004 I went for 6 weeks, with my girlfriend, to:

To self

*'''Name of Restaurant''', Address (''extra directions if necessary''), phone number (''email, fax, other contact if possible''), [http://www.restaurant.example.com/]. Days and times open. One to three sentences about the food, service, atmosphere, view, specialties, music, what have you. $lowprice-$highprice (''extra price info'').

Stuff I could do

I've got a whole diary of information (with prices etc in for alot of stuff) from Morocco that needs entering. I should really be getting on with my coursework. Also upon looking in the diary I seem to have missed out the names of hotels etc... >_<
