I grew up in West Yorkshire in a little town called Holmfirth near Huddersfield

I live and work in London (England).

I was also out in Baden near Zurich in Switzerland for a year or so.

I try to use wikivoyage guides when I go to new places. I find they seem to be particularly useful for finding cheap accomodation and bar/restaurants. I generally try to feed back corrections/improvements after going to a place too.

I have also used the phrasebooks a couple of times.

I was interested in the Project:Mapmaking Expedition. Maps seems to be a major area where wikivoyage content could improve, but creating a open-licensed maps is actually an extremely tricky undertaking. Thanks to this, I got involved in the OpenStreetMap project, which is trying to conquer this final frontier of free information. It's a very interesting project to be involved in, and the mapping process (surveying streets) is actually quite fun. I recommend everyone gives it a try. Hopefully we'll eventually see lots of OpenStreetMap maps appearing on wikivoyage (and wikipedia and other such projects)
