Guangzhou edit

Hi Jinhuang, I would like to thank you too for your great work on the Guangzhou page. I'll be travelling to Guangzhou again in December and last time I was there, I thought that the city is somewhat difficult to grasp. There are only few guidebooks that have anything about GZ and the maps are usually horrible or in Chinese.

I have been creating a vector street map, but my progress is starting to slow down, since I don't have all the street names. Since you seem to have a lot of knowledge about the city, I wonder if you could take a look at the map I have created and give me some feedback? Also if you have any resources (online or offline) that you could point out, I would be happy. You can find my email address from my user page. Thanks!

Thanks for your comments. I have the district map in vector format, so I can change it easily, if I just get the information of the new districts somewhere. I have a several guidebooks (Lonely Planet and Rough Guide), but they have only quite basic information about Guangzhou. Especially the maps are quite bad. If you want to take a look, here's my current progress with the map: http://www.trsqr.net/olli/guangzhou_map.png (sorry, it's quite big image).

I ordered couple of second hand maps from online book stores - hopefully they'll be of use. If I'm not finished before December, maybe you can point me out, where I could get the more up-to-date 2006 map from Guangzhou? Cheers! -- (WT-en) Trsqr 15:13, 20 October 2006 (EDT)

Allright, thanks for your tips. I'll be staying near Beijing Lu, so I'll be sure to visit some bookstores there. -- (WT-en) Trsqr 15:38, 20 October 2006 (EDT)

Nice job with the recent Guangzhou edits! -- (WT-en) Trsqr 11:24, 23 November 2006 (EST)

Hi, I am going to Guangzhou and Bangkok in a week. When going to BKK I will have 6 hours in GZ airport before leaving for BKK. Since the wait is so long, I thought of getting out of the airport for a couple of hours. Would you happen to know, if there's anything near the airport or is the only reasonable option a taxi to the central? Last time I visited the city I just took a taxi from the airport and I remember there was quite a bit of highway... When coming back I will spend a couple of days in GZ and plan to take a lot of pictures (I am a keen amateur photographer), hopefully I can get some nice ones for the article too... -- (WT-en) Trsqr 14:00, 14 December 2006 (EST)
