You might be interested in the discussion at Wikivoyage_talk:Destination_of_the_Month_candidates#DOTM_volume regarding having two DotM each month, one a major/large place and the other a small/less well-known destination. First off, congratulations on a truly excellent article. It's currently up for nomination to Star status. which I think it deserves.
