Editing issues edit

While I don't think it's a problem for Wikivoyage to be used as a teaching/writing tool for school projects (it's been done in the past), I don't think that calls for leniency in editing on the part of "regular" contributors for the sake of beginners can be reasonably accommodated.

In fact, I would say the most important thing that starting Wiki contributors should know is that material will be quickly, mercilessly, and sometimes drastically, edited. Collaboration on a Wiki is not fifteen people sitting at a desk discussing a few pages for a few hours, it's hundreds of people actively editing hundreds of pages twenty-four hours a day. Things get changed first, then discussed if there's an issue. And Wikivoyage is a real, working travel guide, so stuff that doesn't meet certain standards needs to be fixed. We can't treat misguided but well-intentioned material much differently from vandalism or spamming.

This is something that every contributor needs to learn, and most will do so very quickly. If the students learn that, and I hope they will, then they'll do fine and contribute good, well-written material.

Just to add a somewhat milder viewpoint, the issue here isn't the content, it's how that content is being organized. I think you have a couple of options:
  1. Add the new content as attractions under the proper city/town article.
  2. Create the new pages under your user page, and then copy them to the proper locations later on. For example User:(WT-en) Joseph tomei/project1.
Obviously option #1 would be preferred as it allows other users to edit and modify content that is being added. Also, apologies if you took offense at (WT-en) Jpatokal's terror squad comment, I believe it was meant in jest.
