on Talk:Minnan phrasebook you said: I tried to reorganize this page. According to wikipedia, it is more correct to say that Taiwanese is a dialect of Min Nan. Other dialects are Hokkien and Hakka. So on the Min Nan page I thought it would be better organization to create links to Taiwanese, and the others. It has been immediately reverted by Xltel without explanation, which makes me wonder if it was automatic. In the process of doing so the link to the Taiwanese page has been lost http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Taiwanese. Any advice to a new wiki-er would be appreciated! Hi R s l n, Thank you for your contributions. First I would like to say we are not Wikipedia and things are done differently here. We are attempting to build a travel guide. The main reason for the revert is our naming conventions and the type of articles we create. If you are trying to create a phrasebook then there is a template for that Project:Phrasebook_template and the article should be named with "Phrasebook" on the end. Also, we attempt to minimize external links and we have a method to link to Wikipedia that puts a link in the left column. I must say I am no familiar with Min nan or Taiwanese, but if there is a need for a Taiwanese phrasebook in addition to the Minnan phrasebook it should be called Taiwanese phrasebook. Again, the needs should be focused upon what a traveler needs to get by with common phrases. Again, thank you for your efforts and contributions. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 19:27, 20 August 2006 (EDT)
Okay I understand thanks. I guess I must bring up that the Taiwanese_phrasebook should not be redirected to Min-nan since it is a subclass of the larger Min-nan Chinese language class then. I bring up wikipedia since this is my source of the information. Other subclasses of Min-nan, like Hokkien and Hakka, are not entirely mutually intelligible. Thus when it comes to the main topic of travelling, I'll maintain that Taiwanese_phrasebook is where most of the current information should be kept, Taiwanese being the language spoken in Taiwan. A Min-nan phrasebook would have to include dialects from Southern China, to Taiwan, Hainan, Singapore, Malaysia, and possibly more. (WT-en) R s l n 19:59, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Hello Wikipedian!

Welcome to Wikivoyage. I see you are a Wikipedian, so you might notice a few differences. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Again, thank you for contributing. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 19:28, 20 August 2006 (EDT)
