Hello!
Welcome to Wikivoyage. You can edit your preferences to change how the software works for you. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to our wiki software, MediaWiki, look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to edit a page. If you need help, check out the help desk, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.-- (WT-en) Sapphire 18:21, 8 November 2006 (EST)
Copyright
editWould you please clarify the copyright status of Image:Parliament street.jpg? We need to know who owns the image and copyright and if the image is licensed under CC-by-SA 1.0 (Full text of CC-by-SA 1.0). -- (WT-en) Sapphire 18:29, 8 November 2006 (EST)
- And Image:Hull QueensGardens.jpg. -- (WT-en) Sapphire 18:37, 8 November 2006 (EST)
- Would you please clarify the aforementioned issues. Policy requires us to make sure images are available under the copyleft. A very extreme measure may require us to delete the images, but both images are quite lovely and I'd prefer if we can keep them around, but we need this information from you. -- (WT-en) Sapphire 13:51, 9 November 2006 (EST)
All of the images on the page excepting Image:Hull QueensGardens.jpg were taken from the photo album of Steve Roe on Flickr.com. They are his own personal photos and as Flickr.com is a free image sharing site, I presumed they would be OK to use. I will contact him personally to clarify this issue however. As for the Queens Gardens picture..I found this on my hard drive and am not completely sure. I will find out in the next few days and get back to you on this. In the meantime I would appreciate it if you did not delete the images as I agree that they are lovely and I feel they illustrate a side to my home city that does not get enough recognition. I am however, completeley happy to abide by the copyleft policy. Thanks, John.
- If you could ask Mr. Roe if he'd be willing to license the images you upload(ed) under Creative Commons by-ShareAlike 1.0 or possibly CC-by-SA 1.0 and any later version that would be great! I looked at his profile on Flickr and he has only licensed the Parliament Street photo under non-commercial CC-by-SA 2.0 license, which we cannot use. I've listed the image on our votes for deletion page, but we can easily remove the image once Mr. Roe says he will relicense his work under the CC-by-SA 1.0 license or possibly CC-by-SA 1.0 and any later version. -- (WT-en) Sapphire 23:30, 12 November 2006 (EST)
Hi. I will discuss the relicensing of Parliament Street with Mr Roe and get back to you ASAP.
Thanks for your patience. John.
