I'm looking forward to insider tips on Macau! --(WT-en) Evan 00:16, 4 July 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for your great work on cleaning up Chiang Mai! (WT-en) Jpatokal 06:35, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Uploading images to Wikivoyage Shared

edit

Hi. In future, could you please upload images to Wikivoyage Shared? That way people from different language versions can use our photos, and we can use theirs. Just click on the link to Wikivoyage Shared in the navigation box on the left. I believe you will have to sign up for an account there, but it might be worth trying your username and password from here first. The obvious exceptions to uploading to Wikivoyage Shared are maps and diagrams with English writing on, but I reckon that Image:Mersing-Tioman-Schedule.jpg will be fine there. Thanks (WT-en) Tim 01:13, 18 August 2006 (EDT)

Clicked on your profile and I have to confess that I envy your travels. I see that you're an assistant professor of computer science at the U of Macau. Do teach anything about wikis? I recently heard a presentation on using wikis to help teach students how to administer, lead, and manage businesses and websites, which very much intrigue me. -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 01:27, 2 September 2006 (EDT)

In fact, I do touch on wikis in my course on groupware systems, and with some colleagues in the English department we use (MediaWiki-powered) wikis for student translation work and collaborative story writing. Currently we are in the process of developing visualizations of this use of wikis to answer questions on significance of contribution (which is not as simple as counting the number of words or characters contributed by individuals as some contribute high-impact ideas) and the interplay between communication and production functions in collaborative writing. --(WT-en) Robert 04:08, 2 September 2006 (EDT)

Just thanks...

...for your extraordinary contributions to the Macau article. -- (WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 01:01, 3 September 2006 (EDT)

I second that! It's always great to have people with an intimate knowledge of a place to contribute. -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 01:10, 3 September 2006 (EDT)

Other languages?

We're looking for some German speakers to bring some new energy to our German version, and we're also about (I think) to launch a Chinese version, so just a note if you're interested! – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 01:00, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to know about the upcoming Chinese version. Once it's ready, I can do first-hand promotion among my numerous Chinese contacts. - (WT-en) Robert 12:42, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

Hi Robert, I was wondering if you'd be interested in becoming an administrator on the German language Wikivoyage? I could really use the help and would be happy to nominate you. Thanks! -- (WT-en) Sapphire(Talk) • 04:27, 30 July 2007 (EDT)

Hi Sapphire. Many thanks for the offer and your trust in me. But: I have never edited any of the German Wikivoyage pages, hardly glanced at one, and frankly speaking have no interest in the German Wikivoyage. Having been away from Germany for the past 14 years I have come to prefer reading English instead and whenever I go traveling I turn to the English Wikivoyage. Thus I think I'd hardly be the right person for your needs. Thanks again, but sorry for having to turn down your offer. (WT-en) Robert 04:58, 30 July 2007 (EDT)
