Welcome!

edit

Hello Rustinjohnson! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

I'm glad to see you are taking an interest in Khachmaz! I have left a message at Talk:Khachmaz for you regarding the licensing of the content you uploaded. I would appreciate it if you would respond there—better safe than sorry! Please let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 02:59, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

Licensing

edit

Hello again Rustin! I don't feel like I got a final answer from you regarding the licensing of the content used in the Khachmaz article. Do we have the full consent for this material to be used under the Creative Commons CC-by-SA 1.0 license? The crucial details of that license are that the content can be used, reused, and modified by anyone for any purpose (including commercial ventures) as long as the authors are attributed. I would really like to hear from you regarding this, because one of my pet projects on Wikivoyage is to work on making really polished travel information about destinations in the Caucasus. But I don't want to invest time on the Khachmaz article until I know we can keep it for certain. Thanks! Oh, and sorry to hear your summer is humid ;) --(WT-en) Peter Talk 03:26, 2 August 2007 (EDT)

Peter, all of the information that was copied has been removed. I have listed sources on the page including live sources and websites. No consent problems remain. I hope this answers your questions. The pictures that will be added soon have permission to be added to the site. PS: I'm from the Southeast, US. I'll survive a humid summer without a problem. :)

Cool, I'm looking forward to working on this one with you, after I get back from vacation! --Peter 04:47, 13 August 2007 (EDT)

I deleted this image because it violates our Project:Image policy. We don't allow recognizable people in photos, to protect their privacy, and the image shows a rival travel guide :) Also, we try to keep images to a minimum (so that pages are easy to print) and to only include images that show a traveler something important/useful about the destination. On another note, I really like that lead photo!

One other image-related thing, would you please in the future upload all images to Wikivoyage Shared. You will need to register over there, but that way it's possible for other language versions of Wikivoyage to use these images. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:34, 24 August 2007 (EDT)

Khachmaz restaurants

edit

Another heads up, we try to avoid having phone book-like lists of restaurants. Could you add some personal information about the restaurants you know? Like, "avoid the shashlik, but the roast chicken dishes are wonderful." Also, price information and addresses are the most essential information to include. You can pull up an auto-formatted restaurant template by clicking on this in the edittools box at the bottom of your edit screen: * <eat name="" alt="" address="" directions="" phone="" email="" fax="" url="" hours="" price=""></eat>

Looking forward to more! I don't think the shoddy guide I used for Azerbaijan even so much as mentioned Khachmaz! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:34, 24 August 2007 (EDT)
