Welcome Shalom Alechem,

Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Thanks for contributing to Krakow.

Images

edit

Thanks for uploading the great images! However, can you please release your images under CC-BY-SA? This allows wikivoyage to use your images, because then they will be compatible with our copyleft. Please consult the following links. Thanks! (WT-en) Sapphire 15:10, 6 April 2006 (EDT)

Again, you must make sure all the images you uploaded are public domain or CC by-sa 1.0 licensed. GFDL images like [1] are not acceptable and will be deleted. (WT-en) Jpatokal 13:01, 8 April 2006 (EDT)

District articles

edit

Thanks for all of your work on Krakow. One request, however, is to please use the Project:District article template when creating new district articles. It's fine if some sections are left blank, but it's important to have those sections there so that in the future other users can help fill them out. Thanks! -- (WT-en) Ryan 20:49, 7 April 2006 (EDT)

Hello!

edit

So, I wanted to drop in and say thanks for your great work here. However, I'm concerned that you're working very hard uploading files that we can't use since they're incompatible with our Project:Copyleft. In particular, GFDL'd images can't be put on Wikivoyage. Could you please make sure that images you upload are a) Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0 or higher, b) Creative Commons Attribution 1.0 or higher or c) public domain? Thanks -- it will be a little more work for you, but it will make sure your work stays on Wikivoyage. Thanks! --(WT-en) Evan 16:48, 10 April 2006 (EDT)

Image licenses

Hi! It's not sufficient to say "the creator of this photo has released it into the public domain." Please add a link to where you got the image so that the world can see that it's all good. Thanks, and thanks for your work on Poland. -- (WT-en) Colin 17:56, 17 May 2006 (EDT)

You uploaded an image which was also found here. But you labeled the upload with a copyright notice that states you own the copyright. Unless you can explain this issue in some way, I have no choice but to assume all your copyright notices are erroneous and nominate ALL images you have uploaded for deletion. -- (WT-en) Colin 18:58, 17 May 2006 (EDT)

You are continuing to upload images with false copyright information. For example, you claim to have created Image:Kolobrzeg.jpg and submitted it to the public domain, but the file was taken from [2], which has a copyright notice at the bottom of the page. Same with Image:Ustroniemorskie.jpg from [3]. And so on. No one here is stupid enough to think that you're supplying all these images to all these web sites around the world. This is unlawful under international law. Perhaps you don't care about that, but Wikivoyage does. We are required to delete any images that are not properly, legally licenced. You've been wasting a lot of our time, because we're taking the trouble to track down all of your copyright violations and delete them. And you're wasting your own time pulling these images off the web, and uploading them here. But you've done this so often that I am prepared to automatically vote "Delete" on any image you upload, because you have so consistently lied about where you got them. Please stop. - (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 21:54, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

I'm going to start working on the vfds now. -- (WT-en) Colin 22:09, 20 May 2006 (EDT)
I'm going to pause now -- feel fre to continue with this. -- (WT-en) Colin 22:51, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

I'll pick up where ever you leave off. Just leave me a note on the talk page. Very very few (I believe one image) have been useful. We should wholesale delete all images uploaded by Shalom Alechem. (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 23:42, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

The first batch he did from commons.... I went through many of them -- it was tough. But a good percent were CC-bySA and could be kept. I just don't have the energy right now to finish the job. And all the May ones appear to be simple copyvios. -- (WT-en) Colin 23:45, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

E-mail this user

edit

Has anyone attempted to use the "E-mail this user" feature? (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 23:43, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

Yes, I did and got "This user has not specified a valid e-mail address, or has chosen not to receive e-mail from other users." (WT-en) Pashley 06:15, 1 June 2006 (EDT)
