Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. If you want to specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to the whole wiki community look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to use the wiki markup. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thanks for your contributions to Sado Island! -- (WT-en) Jpatokal 11:46, 15 May 2006 (EDT)
Nice map! It looks like you drew it using vector graphics software—would you be so kind as to upload the SVG file. That way anyone can easily update the map as restaurants open/close, etc. Thanks! --(WT-en) Peterfitzgerald Talk 07:46, 9 June 2007 (EDT)
Redistricting of Tokyo
editI've put a proposal for redistricting Tokyo on Talk:Tokyo#District_split, could you give your opinion? (WT-en) Jpatokal 00:24, 13 June 2007 (EDT)
maps
editHey there! Nice map of Sado Island! Just a note, we've been discussing our map template and license issues recently, and just wanted to say that if the Wikivoyage logo is included on the map (which is licensed as cc-by-sa 1.0) then the entire image must then be licensed as that, it can't go into Public Domain. I've updated the license for that particular map, if you done any others, be sure to select that license for them also. Thanks! – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 06:16, 17 June 2007 (EDT)
New articles
editIt is great that you are creating new articles. However, I think that the Ewaninga Rock Carvings and Chambers pillar contravene Wikivoyage's policy on What does not get an article. So, I'm afraid that I am going to nominate them for deletion, and then a consensus of opinion will decide whether to keep the articles or not. You can also contribute to the debate. Anyway, I think it is better to nominate the articles for deletion now, before you and others put much effort into developing them. Anyway, I'm just letting you know the situation. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or other regular contributors. Thanks. (WT-en) WindHorse 11:19, 17 June 2007 (EDT)
- Hi, well according to Wikivoyage policy (Project:What is an article?), individual attractions, such as lakes or statues or whatever do not get independent articles. However, if you started an article under the name of the reserve and added this as an attraction, that would be fine. The Chamber Pillar article could then be redirected to this article. I hope that is ok. (WT-en) WindHorse 11:29, 17 June 2007 (EDT) Ps. Are the rock carvings also located in the same reserve?
- OK, I started a new article under the name of the reserve and moved the pillar information over. This article has a national park template, so there is more opportunity to write information. Please take a look and make any amendments you feel are necessary: Chambers Pillar Historical Reserve. I'll revert my 'vote for deletion' for the rock carvings as I think we can merge it with some other article for a reserve or perhaps district. You can leave your comments on the Talk page of that article. Thanks. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or one of the other regular contributors, and apologies for abruptly interrupting your work. (WT-en) WindHorse 11:48, 17 June 2007 (EDT)
uploading maps/images
editHey again! When you upload your things can you do it to Wikivoyage shared, that allows all of our language versions to make use of your maps/images. It's great to have another map maker on board, and great that you're uploading the svg's as well... then other users can just add a layer for a different language and label it for the Hindi version, Spanish version, etc. Thanks again! – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 13:47, 17 June 2007 (EDT)
