Welcome

Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

If you are a Wikipedian, or have previously used Wikipedia, then you may notice some differences in the style of our articles. Some of the changes are:

Once again, welcome and feel free to plunge forward and help Wikivoyage grow.

Sorry, I've never heard of Cape Nedick. -- (WT-en) Jonboy 10:03, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Would you like to Help me? Traveler2006 11:11, 28 March 2006 (EST)

With South Portland, Maine if you can or any other? (WT-en) Traveler2006 11:22, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Hi. I'll suggest you read Project:What is an article?, which will tell you what we have as an article. (In general, it's places you can sleep, but there are exceptions.) Since the Bronx Zoo doesn't have any place to sleep, it will probably be deleted. Don't let that discourage you, though -- keep contributing! -- (WT-en) Jonboy 11:57, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Jon reply why no sleep at bronx zoo? (WT-en) Traveler2006 13:36, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Swept in from User talk:(WT-en) Xltel

Will you help me clean? (WT-en) Traveler2006 13:21, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Please explain what you mean by "Clean" are you talking about what I have been doing adding templates and formatting, then I am glad to do it. I suggest you do some reading of the links on your talk page and you can help with this as you go. Thank you for your contributions. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel)

Thank you Tom for cleaning the requests i made. (WT-en) Traveler2006 13:24, 28 March 2006 (EST) I hope someday Blue, Arizona and David, Kentucky can be made into travels. (WT-en) Traveler2006 13:24, 28 March 2006 (EST) thanks

Glad to help, but the names will not be as you have shown them with the comma. They will be [[Blue {Arizona}]] and [[David (Kentucky}]]. I suggest you read Project:Article naming conventions and also read Project:How to start a new page, as well as Project:What is an article?. Thank you for your contibutions, you will pick up the style as you go along. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 13:35, 28 March 2006 (EST)

I have marked this image for deletion. Please read Project:Image policy and be careful not to add images unless you own the copyright. Copyright is taken very seriously on Wikivoyage. Thanks! -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 13:50, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Okay no more sorry! (WT-en) Traveler2006 13:51, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Articles up for Deletion

edit

I don't want you to feel like we're picking on you, but it would help tremendously if you would read this articles first:

Thanks for your contributions, but please take a few moments to read about WikiTravel. -- (WT-en) Ilkirk 14:53, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Kirk i have been reading some but it hurts to here me sound like a child... (WT-en) Traveler2006 14:56, 28 March 2006 (EST) sorry if i'am being insulting but iam not i just need to be "guided" into the travel? (WT-en) Traveler2006 14:56, 28 March 2006 (EST)

I don't believe you're being insulting or in any way negative. You're trying your best to contribute to WikiTravel and everyone appreciates that. However, Tom and I are trying to guide you by pointing you toward the policies and procedures we use here on WikiTravel. By adhereing to these standards, WikiTravel will maintain a consistent format and be useful to everyone.
The articles you've started, while helpful, do not fall in line with our policies for a standalone article. Information about bus lines should be in that city's "Get Around" or "Get In" sections. Information about an attraction should be in the city's "See" or "Do" section. Only in very rare occasions do attractions, bus lines or other items get their own article.
Please take a few moments to read over the articles mentioned above and you will understand what we're trying to accomplish. Again, thank you very much for your enthusiasism and effort - it won't go to waste! -- (WT-en) Ilkirk 15:01, 28 March 2006 (EST)

TY! (WT-en) Traveler2006 15:03, 28 March 2006 (EST) bye for now hope tomorrow it will be better! (WT-en) Traveler2006 15:03, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Slow Down

edit

Dude, your enthusiasm is great, but please slow down and do some reading before you create any more new articles or upload pictures. Wikivoyage has some very specific guidelines for what kind of articles we want, and how to put them together. If you don't follow those guidelines, you'll just be making more work for everybody else. (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 14:59, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Allright i chill! sorry lol i will step back and watch! (WT-en) Traveler2006 15:00, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Helping and Hindering

edit

If at any time you wish to help out here, learn and do so -- you need not protest that you are not feeling the love sufficiently. We will judge your contributions by their content, not by your past behaviour. And you probably shouldn't much expect your questions to be answered given the deep appearance of insincerity in your use of questions in the past. Again, if you choose to do actual work here, that's fine. Once you have shown through your actions that you are serious, you might then expect people to take you seriously enough to answer your questions -- but not before. -- (WT-en) Colin 17:00, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Free tutoring

edit

The thing that I love about WikiTravel is sometimes when you use the search to find an answer to a question you have and for whatever reason you are unable to find the appropriate article just ask any of us on our Talk pages and we'll give you an answer or direct you to one.

Of course it's wise to read over all the policies and templates, because it will save you and everyone else time. Feel free to ask away. Auf Wiedersehen, (WT-en) Sapphire 19:36, 28 March 2006 (EST)
