The reason we don't like to link to other websites is 1. the information should be in Wikivoyage and we shouldn't be lazy or whatever to say 'go look at this website because we're too lazy to add the info in the article.' 2. The only websites that we link to are those we're cooperating with like Wikipedia or World66 and primary sources. For example if there's a Marriott Hotel in Las Vegas we'll link to Marriott's website. Here's the low down on external links. -- (WT-en) Sapphire 16:35, 10 August 2006 (EDT)

Thank you for these comments but I do not think we are being too consistent with this policy. In many of the Hawaii pages we have links to clothing, food and other sites. Does not fit what you said.

I personally know that when I was looking for a trip to Hawaii (or anywhere else for that matter) Wikipedia would have helped a lot if there was relevant and "experienced" information about accommodations (people have to sleep) and the service that goes along with that. Agencies provide tons more service than calling a hotel reservations or reception desk and speaking to a clerical person about your $4,000 trip to a far off land.

Finally, as I wrote in the Discussion part of the Maui document: "I have looked at Goals etc and found the item "For on-line use by travellers still planning to review destinations, plan itineraries, make reservations, and get excited about their trip;" particularly interesting. Don't you think that helping people with their online searches for Maui (and Hawaii generally also) would suit that goal? I would like to reinstate but I do not want to be rude - what do you recommend?... (WT-en) Traveler7277 19:41, 10 August 2006 (EDT)
