On the Gites de France section of the France travel page:

I don't understand the reason for reverting to a previous edit. I added a lot of information intended to help people find a gite which suits them, and to help them make a booking once they've chosen a gite. Why was this deleted?

I also added two links, one to a French-property listing site with at least as good a reputation as those which were already listed, and another to a second example of a site for which an example was already provided. I didn't just jump in and put a link where there were no links before. I believe they were at least as appropriate as the links which were there before and which you have reverted to.

If you're going to delete external links, why not be consistent and delete them all? And why delete the extra information, most of which did not use any link whatsoever, but just mentioned what steps can be expected in the process of renting a gite?

I've put it back up -- if you're going to delete it again, I am hoping you'll give me a better explanation of why.

I've removed it again. We have strict rules about external links, see Project:external links. We'd love to get information on individual gîtes in each location in France, but we do not link to booking agencies or directories.
I've removed the other links that were in that section; thanks for pointing it out. --(WT-en) Evan 13:28, 2 November 2006 (EST)

Welcome

Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. You can edit your preferences to change how the software works for you. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to our wiki software, MediaWiki, look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to edit a page. If you need help, check out the help desk, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

I hope you enjoy working on Wikivoyage. If you're a French-speaker, you may also be interested in francophone Wikivoyage. --(WT-en) Evan 13:30, 2 November 2006 (EST)
