I would like to write up my recent conttainer ship voyage; do we have a place for such articles? Ldecola (talk) 11:29, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. Sounds interesting, but a report on a voyage would be a 1st-person account, and we don't do those here. Any information you can post to relevant existing destination or travel topic articles or new destination articles you might create would be great, though. Also, have a look at "Travelling by boat" under Travel topics, and see if any of the linked existing topics in that category might do well to have a "Container ship travel" section added, not with a first-person account, but with information that might help anyone setting out on such a voyage. - Also note that per non-goal #2 here, we aren't a host site for various travel stories and journals. Happy travels! :) JamesA >talk 11:45, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- OK, i can see the reason for not letting wikitravels bloat up with personal accounts. so: where shall i pose the question "Where to publish your travel account?" I'll bet lots of readers are confused about this. Options include one's own website (where all of my stuff is), periodicals, even a book. Ldecola (talk) 17:19, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
I added a link to my journal; is this in keeping with the policy?Ldecola (talk) 17:03, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Wikivoyage:External links#What not to link to has some guidelines on external links - links to personal journals are discouraged in articles, but you're welcome to link from your user page to your journal. If you'd like to write about freighter travel please do - add more information to the Freighter travel article, just avoid using the first-person ("I", "we") and try to keep the information generally relevant rather than writing about a specific trip or company. -- Ryan • (talk) • 17:10, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
