Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. --(WT-en) Majnoona 00:58, 18 May 2004 (EDT)

Hey; thanks for the welcome. I've been dabbling with a few Wikis over the years, so I'm familiar with the `Wiki Philosophy', and have a halting acquaintance with the rudiments of how a Wiki operates. That being said, though, this will be my first real attempt to make a meaningful contribution to a vibrant, consequential, and engaging Wiki community, so please forgive my initial gracelessness. =)

IIRC, I stumbled across Wikivoyage while doing some research on whether or not we had use for a Wiki-based collab tool at work. I got here from following one of (WT-en) Evan's links on some other Wiki. ("Evan Prodromou is the founder of Wikivoyage." ...hey, that sounds interesting, and that name sure sounds familiar...) It's too bad I didn't find it sooner. One of my biggest peeves with conventional travel guides is how little coverage they have of some of the smaller places I've lived (FSVO `small'). Typically, you get a bit of copy lifted directly from the brochures of the major commercial tourist attractions, combined with a halfhearted mention of the places where the reviewer ate and slept while passing through town, clearly on the way to somewhere they considered to be more important. But now, with the help of Wikivoyage and fellow Wikivoyagers, I can try and change all that =) Cheers, (WT-en) RickScott 00:14, May 21, 2004 (EDT)

Har! I knew all that ruthless self-promotion would eventually pay off. Anyways, glad to have you on board, and happy to have seen such good contributions so far. I agree that Wikivoyage has a great potential to do really worthwhile guides to small and out of the way places; Minot is probably a good example of that. --(WT-en) Evan 02:43, 21 May 2004 (EDT)

Your old contributions should now show up on this account. I had to move the user page and talk page that was created today to User:RickScott/Archive, so please move any data from those pages to the new (old?) ones if you want it. -- Ryan • (talk) • 03:24, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

One additional note, you're free to remove the {{wtuser}} template from your user page if you want to - it was automatically added to all imported user pages for attribution purposes, but since you no longer need to be attributed as an "imported" user then the template is no longer necessary. Of course, if you want to keep it then that's fine, too. -- Ryan • (talk) • 04:10, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
