Sebastian is a small town in south east Florida on the Indian River at Sebastian Inlet. A welcoming sign proclaims the town to be "Home of Pelican Island, friendly people & six old grouches."

On the barrier island at the southern end of the county, the park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities including wildlife viewing, fishing, camping, swimming, and more. It is one of the best spots in the county for surfing and is a great fishing and surfing spot. The McLarty Treasure Museum exhibits the history of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet. Sebastian Fishing Museum tells the history of the area's fishing industry. $8 per multi-occupant vehicle, $6 for single-occupant vehicle.
