editA pagebanner image is needed for this page. Only photo I could find on commons is nothing special though. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:45, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
- Also, in case you didn't realize, that image is in the article itself. Selfie City (talk) 14:33, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
Suggestions
editThe lead could use a general description of the trail. What makes it worth doing?
Also, some information about getting in without a car would be useful. Is it at all visitable by public transit? Google Maps shows no feasible transit options, but is there anything they might not be aware of? What about rideshare – I suppose it's easy enough to get an Uber or Lyft to the staging area, but can you call one to pick you up when you're finished, or is this trail too far out of the way? Is it feasible to bike to either staging area? If none of these options are realistic, then maybe the "Get in" section should mention that the trail is only reachable by car.
@SelfieCity: Pinging you in case you know the answers, though I realize it's been quite a few years since you worked on this article. —Granger (talk · contribs) 16:43, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. Basically, this trail is part of a longer trail network that extends from Livermore, California, through the Diablo Range to Fremont, California at Mission Peak Regional Park. It's about 30 mi (48 km) in all and later parts of the trail network are quite remote, but the part described in this article is used by the general public much more than the rest of the hike, as it's shorter and closer to the city.
- This itinerary covers the route through Sycamore/Veterans Regional Park to Del Valle Regional Park. From there, the East Shore Trail continues around the eastern side of the lake to the Ohlone Wilderness, where the Ohlone Wilderness Trail continues through Sunol Regional Park and on to Mission Peak.
- As far as alternative forms of transit, I didn't think there was any public transit system in this area but I did check the Wheels Route Map to see if there are any options. Alas, Wheels Bus does not offer any routes to this part of Livermore. However, in recent years (2010s I think) a cycle trail network was put in place throughout the southern fringes of Livermore, and there is a cycle path along Wetmore Rd that does provide access to the start of this itinerary. You would still need a car to access the cycling trail for those who don't live locally (likely at Holdener Park to the east), but at least the new cycle trail does provide alternatives in terms of access to the park.
- I don't know what the rideshare situation is like for these staging areas, but I'd be pretty certain the Sycamore Grove entrance is easily accessible within Uber or Lyft's network. The Del Valle entrance isn't too far out of the way for an Uber driver either, although it is a little more out of the way, being a dead-end road and being more remote.
- Hopefully that helps to clarify the situation! I can add these details into the article if you'd like. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 03:03, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

- Sure! Will do. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 16:00, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- One thing I've noticed at closer examination: the second staging area is Veterans Memorial Park, not Del Valle Regional Park, per the article. There is a trail from Del Valle that connects to this itinerary, but Veterans Memorial Park is a more accessible place, so it's good to see that I included it when I wrote the article. Like Sycamore Grove, it is not remote and easily accessible. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 04:16, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Also, I have incorporated parts of my above comment, such as the cycle trail information and the first paragraph, into the article. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 04:17, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
