Talk:Berkeley
Anyone know of any reliable and informative online restaurant guides?--(WT-en) Jiang 04:28, 20 Feb 2004 (EST)
For Berkeley, not so much. I usually use CitiSearch or word of mouth. But hey, we're trying to build one here, no? -- (WT-en) Anca

I wonder if we shouldn't split up the dining listings by Neighborhood (Downtown, Telegraph, 4th Street, Elmwood, Rockridge, etc...) -- (WT-en) Anca
I agree that we should either split up dining listings by neighborhood or remove the neighborhood labels all together. I looked at several other cities of similar size and it seems as though having it broken down by neighborhood is not the mode, but perhas it would be more useful. either way, i think as it is now is poorly organized--Tiddigariddiga (talk) 03:37, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Research Links
editUseful links for doing research about Berkeley:
Revision
editLooking over and updating the listings - a lot of things have moved or closed or changed since this was first posted - the map's going to need to be completely remade. L. Challenger (talk) 00:42, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
Bars
editMost of this section is a mixture of bars, pubs and includes restaurants that have full bars - I'm of a mind to separate them out. L. Challenger (talk) 05:25, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- By all means, go ahead! Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:00, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
Bullet List Hell
editSo, tried moving around some of an improperly-alphabetized list, only to have the formatting just go completely haywire - it's going to make adding new things to the list very difficult. L. Challenger (talk) 20:25, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
- Tried it with the visual editor - worked out fine. It's happening because Buy is a nested bullet list. L. Challenger (talk) 20:30, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
Ashkenaz Music & Dance category
editIt's a music and dance center that offers a variety of classes as well as food and drink - so I am puzzled about just where to put it. L. Challenger (talk) 04:38, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- You can pick the category it's best known for - if it's primarily a restaurant then "Eat", if it's primarily a dance center then "Do". -- Ryan • (talk) • 04:43, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- It is definitely primarily known for dancing - the whole website is nonstop dance - that solves the puzzle nicely - thank you! L. Challenger (talk) 09:29, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Buy (again)
editbecause of the way Buy is organized - or more importantly how it's showing more a list of neighborhoods than anything else - I may need to figure out how to actually show the locations instead of just a list of bullet points. There used to be a way of showing all the addresses for a given company, but I am not sure that's how it's handled anymore. L. Challenger (talk) 20:08, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Get Around, Ride Sharing, etc.
editI plan to add a section to Berkeley the same way I did for Oakland for ride and char sharing and rentals and such. Also - the Claremont has an entire phonebook of numbers for access, a stack of toll-free numbers and international numbers as well. L. Challenger (talk) 07:21, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
Eat
editSo, there's a few listings that are more or less part of a collection of eateries in a single location - Durant Center for one. I have a couple of these listed, but I am wondering if I should list them all, under a specific location heading. Berkeley's like this - lots of foodie spots. L. Lockdowns/Social Distancing Rules
editI am planning to add a big note at the top concerning procedures needed and enforced in the years of COVID-19. L. Challenger (talk) 02:16, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- Some note is probably needed, as Berkeley is a bit different from the rest of the area. What do you mean by a big note, though? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:53, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Featured destination?
editIs this article good enough for Dotm? Or is something missing? /Yvwv (talk) 00:38, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
The Pier
editI have deleted the listing for the Marina/Pier - the pier is crumbling and there is still no timeline or definitive answer as to when it will be renovated and open to the public once again, as of this writing. L. Challenger (talk) 00:31, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
